Sustainable irrigation at Säve Nursery
Säve Nursery has long worked with sustainable methods to reduce its carbon footprint. Floating solar on the irrigation pond now provides green electricity to pump stations and the wider operation.

Where production and environment meet
Säve Nursery, located north of Gothenburg, has long worked with sustainable practices to minimise its carbon footprint. Investing in floating solar was an obvious part of its long-term strategy to combine production and environmental responsibility — while making smart use of existing resources.
The installation has proven stable under tough weather conditions including snow and ice. On warm summer days reflection from the water has increased output while evaporation has decreased. The cooling effect of the water also keeps panel temperatures down, which means capacity stays more consistent than on rooftop installations where performance can suffer in heat.

Solar electricity straight into the pump station
The energy produced at Säve Nursery is enough to power both pump stations and other parts of the operation, reducing reliance on conventional energy sources. With Sunsurf Solar's patented anchoring system the installation also copes with significant variations in water level — making it a flexible and reliable solution, perfectly suited to the nursery's irrigation pond.
