The Driving Force Behind Sunsurf Solar
Sunsurf Solar was founded in 2020 by Marc Montgomery, Martin Örgård and Björn Larsson. The company was born out of a shared commitment to the increasingly urgent climate situation and the need to accelerate the development of sustainable solutions in the market.

With backgrounds as engineers and environmental scientists, and experience in technology development within the offshore sector, floating solar panels became a natural and exciting challenge. After several years of technology development, testing and validation, Sunsurf Solar has developed solutions that enable the installation of competitive floating and pile-free solar panels in a Nordic climate.

2025 – Finalists E-Prize, Renewable Energy
The company's solution offers multiple benefits: in addition to producing local energy, it protects against water evaporation and frees up valuable land. The bifacial panels combined with natural cooling from the water simultaneously increase energy production.

2024 – Solenergipriset
Sunsurf Solar demonstrates through Sweden's first floating solar park that the boundaries of solar energy in Sweden are not limited to ground and rooftop installations. Their work is an exemplary display of initiative and an inspiring reminder that technological development and sustainability can go hand in hand.
Who We Are at Sunsurf Solar
Marc Montgomery – CEO
With a background in environmental science and political science, Marc has extensive experience working on issues at the intersection of sustainability, innovation and societal development. At Sunsurf Solar, Marc is CEO and is responsible for the company's strategy, developing long-term partnerships and leading the team.
Martin Örgård – CTO
Martin Örgård is a Master of Science in Naval Architecture with ten years of experience from the offshore industry. He has worked on the development of HVDC platforms, floating wind power and wave energy, among others. He is one of the co-founders of Sunsurf Solar and currently serves as Chief Technology Officer, responsible for systems and technology development.
Björn Larsson – COO
Björn holds a degree as a Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering with a master's degree in Naval Architecture & Ocean Engineering from Chalmers University of Technology. In the company, Björn is COO and is responsible for establishing and executing projects, with a particular focus on engineering, procurement and construction (EPC).
Embla Jansson – Product Developer
Embla Jansson is a Master of Science Engineer with a bachelor's degree in industrial design and a master's degree in product development from Chalmers University of Technology. Her expertise lies in product development with a focus on innovation and cost efficiency combined with sustainability.
