Jönköping
Sweden's largest floating solar park
On a leachate pond at Jönköping Environmental Services, 48 PowerModules and 144 bifacial panels produce renewable electricity in the middle of an active waste facility — without taking any land.

Renewable power inside a demanding industrial site
At the end of June 2025, Sweden's largest floating solar park was commissioned on a leachate pond at Jönköping Environmental Services. The facility has long worked to make its operations more climate-smart, with a recurring focus on switching to renewable energy. With floating solar technology, that ambition has now become reality.
The installation consists of 48 floating modules and 144 bifacial solar panels, with a total installed capacity of 116.1 kWp. The panels capture both direct sunlight and reflected light from the water surface, which contributes to higher efficiency than a comparable ground-mounted installation.

Built for leachate water and winter snow loads
The system is designed to power operations at the pond with renewable electricity without affecting the logistics or function of the waste facility. The floating modules are built from HDPE pontoons and aluminium frames, engineered to withstand the harsh conditions of landfill water and the heavy snow loads of a Swedish winter.
The project enables local electricity production with lower climate impact and shows how renewable energy can be integrated into demanding industrial environments without disturbing existing operations.
